Killer of trees!
⠀⠀That’s what they are.
⠀⠀—those hu[man]itarians—

We will leave them.
Will we (re)turn?
Some day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Everything is ugly!
It was the time when Change interrupted, and the dark eyes of Seeking stared out from under heavy brows, and seeing — questioned existence. The eyes of Seeking opened wide, each like a full moon on a starless night. Confusion. How long has it been? Time away, believing that what he had understood to be real is now only a sinister lie. When did he learn to forget? Society has decayed, grown evil. His eyes have been stung by evil, his nostrils flared by its pungency, and he has awoken in tears. Society wondered, "Who is he?" The place he knew — before — now it is ugly. The streets were ugly. The houses were ugly. The people were ugly. Dark, dank and vile. The gray sky coughed and its breath smothered the land in a fog of hopelessness. Everything was colorless, washed out faded and gray. All the trees had left. Then great lights came and the gray disappeared. The colors flashed all bright, all day, all night, blinking, and beckoning eyes. But the colors were not of Nature and the trees had not returned. The eyes blinked. Evil stalks the innocent, but they are only innocent until they open their eyes. The eyes blinked. Individuality became lost in mediocrity. Be average and aspire to nothing, low is the new high. Now there is no reason to raise the bar. We slump into our mediocre job with mediocre people in charge throughout the mediocre day all acting out our mediocre lies. Our mediocre family, and our mediocre lives. The mediocre eyes blinked in their mediocrity. Happiness fled to find the trees as the mediocre blinked contentedly.
The use of eyes blinked is in some part influenced by Nietzsche. In the Fourth and Last Part of Also Sprach Zarathustra, Of the Higher/Superior Man/Human, the people blink. This blink (blinzelt) is more likely squint.
